Album Cover

MT. JOY Orange Blood

The album cover for Mt. Joy's Orange Blood was recreated with a focus on harmonious design: the front is well-balanced, the back maintains symmetry, and the inside presents a cohesive layout. The front cover features a juxtaposition of desert and ocean imagery, complemented by a centrally placed Polaroid photo to evoke a sense of nostalgia. The inside design includes a collage that draws on themes from each track on the album.

The objective of this assignment was to explore the concept of duality through the recreation of an existing album cover. This theme is expressed on the front through the blend of contrasting desert and ocean scenes in a collage, unified by the nostalgic Polaroid element at the center. The project also served as an opportunity to move away from traditional grid-based layouts—a significant shift from earlier works that closely followed strict grid structures.

One notable challenge involved the physical assembly of the cover onto an actual album. Although it may seem like a simple task, it highlighted the importance of carefully considering the construction process. This experience underscored the need for a more deliberate and thoughtful approach to craftsmanship, taking time with each step to ensure precision and quality in the final product..
